The SF Distinguished Seminar Series in Geography and Sustainable Development 2025 successfully completed!

The Surein Foundation Distinguished Seminar Series in Geography and Sustainable Development 2025,was successfully conducted at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in the afternoon of March 31.


Entitled “Regional Development Traps and Regional Innovation Policy:

The case of European Regions” , the Distinguished Seminar was presented by Prof. Ron Boschma, from Department of Human Geography and Planning, Utrecht University, Netherlands and Stavanger University, Norway.


This seminar talked about the links between regional “development traps” (low growth/stagnation traps) as defined by Iammarino et al. (2020) and this new typology of regional traps, following an evolutionary approach.


After the session, which drew 40 attendees, lively discussions on Q&A section. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Prof. Ron Boschma, witnessed by all the audiences.
